COST MODEL

Points System
Our unique "points system" allows you pick and choose what services you need and how they are delivered. A "point" is equal to one full hour of any of our four core services. This could be training, consulting, implementation, or ongoing support.

The simplicity of this cost model makes planning your technology budget easy and makes billing very simple. When you purchase points, you don't have to specify up-front how you are going to use them. You sign a blanket agreement for a certain amount, then decide when, where and how you want to use them.

For example, if you use Microsoft(TM) software exclusively in your infrastructure, have an emerging technology budget for $2000 dollars and would like to investigate integrating Linux in your enterprise, but don't know specifically how to go about it, you can purchase twenty points from Simonson Technology Services, and allocate them any way you need. Here are some examples:

Five hours of consulting, so you can be apraised of current Linux / Open Source software. Let's say that you decide it would be in your companies best interest to put RedHat(TM) Linux on one of your older Windows(TM) on Intel(TM) servers. You also decide you want to evaluate the postfix mail transport agent and the Apache web server on the same machine. You could use eight hours of implementation services to get that environment installed, configured, secured, and up and running. Then you could use five hours for training, to get your IT staff familiar with the Linux environment, and the applications installed. Then, save the last two hours for on-going support when the need comes up.

Another example might be: Use 2 hours of consulting, then use 16 of the 20 points for two full days of a consulting and training combination, where we install and configure the product, while your team watches and asks questions. Then save the two remaining points for the future.

Or, let's say that you already know what you want and your in a hurry to get a Linux server deployed. You may decide to use 10 hours for implementation, and save the remaining ten for on-going support.

The beauty of this system is that you can just as easily use any of these examples or something completely different. - It's just that simple.

When using the this system, five points must initially be purchased at $100 / point. Subsequent points can be purchased individually.

Conventional Billing
If you would like to use conventional billing methods and pay for the specific project or job individually, we support that as method well. This process involves signing a Statement of Work describing the specific goals, and measurements of success for the project. Once this is signed, the work takes place, both parties agree on the accomplishments, and a bill is submitted.

The conventional billing method has an initial one hour minumum of work for one of the four core services, and is usually billed at the higher rate of $125 / hour. Subsequent engagements have a 30 minute minimum.
