STS-1510: Solaris™ 8 Basic TCP/IP Administration

Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to the usage, configuration, administration and operation of TCP/IP in an Ethernet environment. It provides a thorough explanation of the networking fundamentals required to be able to set up and use a TCP/IP network. All of the topics are designed to provide both practical and background knowledge to the student, allowing the student to deal with issues not explicitly explained in the classroom.

The course materials are designed to provide a thorough introduction to the structure and use of TCP/IP based networking, focusing primarily on a Unix and Ethernet environment. The concepts and operation presented are universal, but are presented in reference to the Sun Solaris environment. Appendices are provided to describe IPv6, Name Services, and DHCP usage, which are not usually covered as part of this course. The duration of this course is three full days, including lab exercises.
