Course Description: This course provides an overview of the installation, operation and integration of Veritas Volume Manager, Sun Cluster, and Oracle products. The emphasis is on commonly performed basic administrative tasks, understanding how the products operate, and how they interact. The course is intended to provide an introduction to the installation, configuration and integration of these products, sufficient to allow the student to install these products in an integrated environment. In addition, students will be able to perform basic troubleshooting of the products. This course covers the functional characteristics and standard administration tasks commonly performed in the Solaris environment, with stress on solving problems that arise during those tasks. PowerPath and the EMC support software are installed and VxFS is discussed as part of the course. Veritas CVM are not covered in this course.
Who Can Benefit: Veritas Volume Manager 3.5 and Sun Cluster 3.1 with Oracle 9i RAC is intended for system administrators, consultants, support engineers or installers responsible for installation and basic maintenance of an integrated Sun Cluster 3 and Oracle environment. Architects and planners can also benefit by seeing how the products are integrated and how they interact.

Prerequisites: To receive full benefits from this course, the student must possess Solaris OE administration experience and Veritas Volume Manager experience. No previous knowledge of Oracle or Sun Cluster 3.5 is required.
