Interested in coming to "The Biggest Little City in the World"? Simonson Technology Services is located in a suburb of Reno Nevada, called Sparks. Reno has many events going on throughout the year. These activities, in addition to Reno's wonderful weather make it an ideal destination for your training needs.

Our current classroom has 14 Sun Ultra 10 workstations each with 360Mhz UltraSparc2 processors, 256MB RAM, 2*20GB internal hard drives for disk mirroring, a Creator 3D graphics card, and a QFE network card for configuring the machine as a router or with private networks. Twelve of these machines are connected with jnic fibre channel HBA's via a pair of brocade switches to our EMC Symmetrix storage area network. Our classroom's entire front wall is a white board, which enables us to give detailed diagrams of the topics we are discussing.

A customized version of Sun's Jumpstart installation and configuration tool allows us to quickly and easily perform a fresh install, and configure the workstations for any of the standard or custom courses that we teach. This list includes courses such as Sun Cluster and Veritas Volume Manager. We also have a Putting Green when you need to take a break from the rigors of learning.

During classes, our office provides a mixture of bakery, beverage, and fruit items for your convenience. We have a spring water cooler and coffee maker, as well as referigerators for students who prefer to bring their own meal. There are several delicious eating establishments nearby, in addition to the typical fast food offerings. You can also contact our office for information about corporate hotel rates at John Ascuaga's Nugget or the Reno Marriott Residence Inn.

Within the coming months, we will be adding a new classroom, and connecting all of our existing workstations to our SAN. The new classroomwill consists of 28 computers; a Sun Ultra 10, and a Dell PC at each of 14 desks. These will enable us to provide Linux on Intel classes in our facility, as well as UNIX / Microsoft Integration classes. Check the News link for updates. This class will be fitted with a projector to give demonstrations during instruction delivery.

Price for a Reno delivery varies with the duration of the class and course material. See our standard course listing for class prices, and our class schedule for upcoming classes. Contact us for information about custom courses. Aside from the snacks listed above, the customer generally pays for their expenses.

Most often companies need to have our instructors come to their sites to deliver training. Our instructors are flexible when dealing with the dynamic changes of the IT industry. In general instructors stay after class to answer questions and work with students one on one. If necessary, we can arrange to work with students before and after classes to ensure the delivery is a success.

We have instructors close to major airports in the following cities: Reno, San Francisco, and Dallas. Our course material is printed at our corporate headquarters in Reno, and delivered to your site on or before the day of the delivery.

If any minor implementations, or configuration need to happen as part of the training we can accomodate those as well. If major planning, implementation, or configuration work need to happen as part of the delivery, contact us to discuss specifics. In general, we can accomodate these needs under our consulting offering. For labs, equipment from your site will be used for the training process.

Price for an on-site delivery varies with the duration of the class and course material. The price for using equipment in Reno for the labratory exercises incurs a slightly higher cost than using onsite equipment. The cost of the instructors airfare, lodging, and modest food expenses are passed on to the customer.

A challenge for most companies is to have the appropriate Lab and Training equipment to accomodate a particular class delivery. There may be some equipment, but it may be consistently used or in production and isn't available to "break". Simonson Technology Services has the answer. Our training facility has 14 SUN Ultra 10 Workstations, with dual hard drives, connected to an EMC Symmetrix SAN. See the Our site section for classroom details.

The advantage that Simonson Technology Services has over other IT Training / Consulting providers is that our entire facility can be accessed over the internet. We have a T1 connection with our ISP that makes it possible to remote display a graphical connection to any of our SUN machines using a combination of SSH and VNC. All that's needed from the customers side is outbound SSH access from within their companies firewall and clients with SSH installed to connect with. Because no changes are taking place to the client, a personal workstation is a good option. Click here for the STS requirements document, and instructions on how to connect.

We even have a teminal concentrator that allows a student from a remote location to watch and control the reboot process, including sending a break and manipulating the workstation from the OK prompt.

Price for an on-site delivery varies with the duration of the class and course material. The price for using our equipment for the labratory exercises is slightly more expensive than using equipment provided by the customer. The cost of the instructors airfare, lodging, and modest food expenses is not included. Contact us for specific pricing information.
